10 Stage Career Transition Process

Clients in all of our Career Transition Support Programs (CTSP) work through our unique 10-Stage career transition process:

  • Reaction & Reconciliation.  At various stages in the career transition process - and particularly at the start - clients may find themselves experiencing the "emotional rollercoaster" described in our booklet What happens now? We can help clients deal with these feelings and move more quickly towards a better future.
  • Reflection & Self Assessment.  This begins with One-to-One discovery with a dedicated consultant and may include formal assessments that help clients understand their strengths and to articulate their personal life goals.
  • Establishing your Career Objectives.  What kind of job would clients like to retire from at the end of their careers? In this stage, clients explore the options and alternatives available to them, incorporating past experiences, future aspirations and insights gained through self-assessments.
  • Mapping your Career Strategy.  Clients begin to map out career choices that will make them the most competitive candidate for their long-term "dream" job when the time comes.
  • Developing your Resume & Marketing tools.  In this pivotal stage, clients develop an effective resume and any other personal marketing tools they may require: business cards, professional biography, portfolio, personal website, appropriate email address, voicemail box, etc.
  • Planning your Job Search.  Once clients know what type of role is right for right now, they will begin to identify appropriate job search tactics and develop an action plan to help them locate the right opportunities and sell themselves to their next employer.
  • Enhancing your Skills & Knowledge.  After sharpening their personal interviewing and networking skills, clients are encouraged to begin a life-long learning process to prepare for their desired long-term career path.
  • Finding your Next Opportunity.  In this stage, clients actively network, engage in strategic information meetings with people, participate in interviews with prospective employers, etc.
  • Assessing & Negotiating Offers.  In this stage, clients learn how to assess job offers against the criteria they established in Stages II and III. They also learn the basics of negotiating and accepting the right offer.
  • "Sticking" the Landing.  Program materials will discuss how to create the best impact in clients' new jobs, how to recognize and avoid potential pitfalls in their new environment and how to keep personal networks active and working to support future career growth.
