It appears that dream jobs take many forms. Some are short-term, some long-term and others are contract opportunities. My own dream began to reveal itself back in 1988, when a surge of ‘gotta be there’ energy hit me while watching the Calgary Winter Games. I could only imagine being part of a community involved in pulling together such a world-class event. Now I am about to live that dream!

At Felix®, I help people discover what’s important to them. I encourage clients to envision their dream career and to pursue it. Together, we work to identify their strengths and skills. We align their values, focus their energies and make it happen. In living my dream, I drew on this same process. I learned the strength of my resilience, to recognize which opportunity was right for me, and to know when to ask for support.

Everyday, I coach clients through challenging choices and career transitions. While I felt personally clear on my dream, I needed to find my own inspiration when I joined 77,000 equally excited hopefuls applying for game-times roles. Just as Felix® Global’s mission is “helping the world’s best organizations build high performance cultures,” I wanted to help Vancouver host the world and create a once in a life-time experience.

I approached this challenge believing that my heart-inspired dream could happen. I entered the recruitment process knowing I had set high expectations for myself, and that it had to be a good fit if I was to truly shine. My great desire was to contribute my natural leadership, in a community, on a team where performance, collaborative spirit and excellence are honoured. The journey had more twists and turns than I imagined.
